What Does it mean to be a Christ follower?
It is our desire that every person would come to know Jesus as their personal Master and Savior.
God created man in His image, to bear his image. In the beginning we had perfect relationship with God. Then, man chose to disobey God and introduced sin into the world.
We believe that God sent his son to die in our place because we have been separated from God by sin. Because God is Holy and Righteous, our sinfulness keeps us from his presence. When Jesus died, he took our sin upon himself and in return offers us his righteousness. This gift of righteousness allows us to know God and be known by Him.
The Bible tell us that those who know God will spend eternity in His presence and those who do not know God will spend eternity apart from Him.
Becoming a Christ follower is meant to be a life long covenant decision between you and God; it is a life transformed by God's love, forgiveness, and purpose. The more you know God the more you will become like Him.
What Does The Bible Say?
Everyone is a sinner and is separated from God.
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23
God loved us all so much that he gave his Son to die for our sins.
"But God shows His love toward us, in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
Death means separation forever from God. Eternal life comes by believing Jesus Christ.
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23
In order to begin your new life in Christ (be saved), you must believe that Jesus died for your sins and declare that you accept Him as Savior.
"If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9
This is God's promise to you - if you accept Jesus, He will accept you.
"For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:13
If you would like to accept Jesus now, talk to Him (pray):
Tell Him you know you are a sinner and need to be saved. You know He sent His son to save you and to die on the cross for your sins. Confess that Jesus is Lord (Master) and you have been set free from the power of sin and condemnation. Thank Jesus for giving you eternal life and commit your life to following Him!
The mark of a Christ follower is a life completely transformed. Believing that Christ died for you is the first step in coming to know God. The next step is learning who God is and committing your life to follow Him.
It is important to find a community that will help you understand and study the Bible. It is also important to cultivate alone time with God in prayer every day.
The first step after accepting Christ is to be baptized in water. Baptism is a public declaration of your commitment to follow Christ. It is symbolic of your old life passing away and your new life starting. It is an important step of obedience.
